I watched the steeplechase race on nbcolympics.com. I had no idea such a race existed. I was hoping that the "unmovable" barriers would catch the pack of runners but alas, no such luck.
Does it seem to anyone else that they started making up events while drunk? "Let's have a hurdle race where one of the hurdles has a puddle of water!"

the women's steeple chase rocked! especially when the spanish athlete busted her bum. It's like a combination of Nascar and regular distance running events. They throw in those little obstacles just to see if you're paying attention. And the crowd eats it up when there's a wreck.
ReplyDeleteI love the steeplechase, but unfortunately I missed it. Steeplechase has actually been an Olympic sport since at least the 50's, maybe longer, and goes back for at least a couple hundred years in Britain. In high school, one of our cross country meets every year was a steeplechase event.
